Young Directors + South African Band = Cool Music Video

A few good friends of mine are burgeoning film directors in Cape Town, South Africa. I met them in Cairo and later worked with them on the music for Dorotea Vucic’s “Wamkelekile: Welcome Home,” an Oscar nominated short-film from the Western Cape. They recently sent me this, a music video for the South African band [...]

“…And all under heaven there is entire repose.”

All of us, by which I mean all people in general, are artists of sorts – we strive to become better at the things we love, whether that be songwriting or parenthood (or both), and we do so with such conviction that we are able to shake off the ever-present naysayers, those agents of cynicism [...]

In a recent article for the China Daily newspaper, Quincy Jones claimed he would ride with bravado against the 21st century’s dark knight, a phantom menace called copyright infringement, and rescue his beautiful maiden in distress, the haggard and threadbare music industry. From the article: “We are going to reinvent the record business, in China, [...]

Halls of the Machine: What does Silence Sound Like?

We are finalizing the details for a new release that we are particularly excited about: the ambient instrumental group Halls of the Machine. Since several of the band members are local, we had the privilege to meet with two of them, Michael Jerome and Mike Graff, to learn about the project they conceived, recorded and produced at the end of their days with Course of Empire.
